This site has fallen apart but I still think about the people I've met and the friendships that were made. Life is full of distractions and I've had my share but I sure miss getting together. The Pandemic hasn't helped the situation any. So chime in if your still here.
maybe we can plan a ride....

“Ha,ha! You funny Joe” famous quote from what movie?
I here less and less. I don’t hear anything but wind at 70mph. I can still see though....grasshoppers are getting bigger.
I didn’t hear Woody call for an MCH either. Your turn Woody.

Hey Sniper, glad you dropped by. It seems that being retired doesn’t always mean more time to ride. So what’s happening in your world? Any interesting riding? Woody has been selected to set up a ride and we are waiting to hear from him....

Hey Sniper, congrats on the retirement and welcome to the club! And Skeeter, I'm going to have to wait a bit longer to designate a ride (gotta a place in mind though). I've got my bike in storage at a friends house out in Manor; nowhere to keep it here at the apartment complex (and I ain't gonna park it outside of the apt.). Still waiting on our house to be completed. Don't know when that will be 'cause they/builder won't tell us. It's been raw framed (finally!) so hopefully things will pick up from here. Worse damn framing job I've ever seen and I use to work on a framing crew back in my mid twenties. Hard to get good help these days I guess much less anyone who wants to work period. :/

Hey Woody, I understand about the poor state of construction workers. Pretty much working by myself the last 10 months. Brother Jim found a job with insurance which is understandable at his age. Haven’t found anybody to fill his shoes and wants to work. One of our contractors builds a house with just one Mojado, but he’s done that for as long as I can remember with very little outside help. Very much in control and excellent quality. Only takes him a year to complete, lol. You would be amazed at what framers get away with. They could at least make it look good. So much gets covered up that you never know. One builder wouldn’t let me frame them cuz he didn’t like my prices and the time I took but before the other trades he would have me come fix the worst of it and make any changes. You are paying for it. Ask contractor for his best and to fix the obvious.
So who’s gonna choose the next ride?

I wonder what everyone's up to? Skeeter...would you believe those clowns (builder) don't even have sheetrock up yet or cladding for that matter? Always excuses. They say they've been waiting on hvac stuff for the past month a a half. "Supply chain issues" they say. Comin' up on a year. Sheeeesh!!!

I admit to being AWOL for years. I didn't even know folks were still coming here. Activity went to nil so I gave up the web site but did create a Facebook page, which again generated zero traffic. I just figured everyone had moved on. As for Laurie and I, we are in Fredericksburg while our house in Kerrville is being built. Still have the Nomad I bought from Sarge and ride often. You can find me on Facebook and see the progress on our house. Hope everyone is healthy & happy. I miss you all and hope someday we may ride again. Until then stay safe. Facebook Texas VROC

Hey there Mark! Good hearing from you. So you and Laurie decided to pull-up roots in Austin and move to Kerrville, eh? Well now I guess you and Skeeter can do a lot of riding together now that you'll be neighbors. What possessed you to move to Kerrville? Maybe that's where Stephanie and I should have moved to and had Skeeter build our house rather than the home builder we have here in Bastrop. They're terrible! I really think they're trying to get us to throw in the towel and backout so that they can finish it out and sell it for more $$. We're into the 13th month and they don't even have it sheetrocked or cladded. Anyway, Kerrville's a nice town. Wouldn't mind living there myself but too far away from Stephanie's grandkids in Austin. But we like Bastrop, too. I still have my Yami FJR but sold the Kawi 1600 about nine months ago before we moved here. Didn't need two bikes. Hell, I probably don't need ONE as little as I ride anymore. Guess I'll need to shake the cobwebs off it though and come out there and ride a bit with you and skeeter. But it's darn near a 3 hr. ride just to get there from here! Great hearing from you. I don't do Facebook so will just have to keep tabs with folks here...although most don't do "here" anymore either. I miss my old riding buds. Take care and you guys stay safe. Woody

I pretty much dropped off the edge also. Seems like life just gets in the way of living. I do miss the MCH's and the Hill country rides we used to do. Think occasionally about the friends we've lost, the bricks we've set in Luckenbach. Retired in Nov 2018 and after 80k on the Nomad, I traded for an Indian Roadmaster which I've since had a trike conversion done. Legs were just not as strong after both knees were replaced. Guess I didn't do enough of the strength training I should have done. Hope everyone is doing as well as possible. Rhett

Good hearing from you BigDog. Sure's a good looking trike ya got there! Sorry to hear about all your leg/knee problems but at least they're still hanging in there, right?...(barely? HA!) Take care and keep ride'n safe. Woody

Building woes…. Can’t get help, waiting on materials. 3-5 times increases on prices. At this rate I’m behind at least a year and I’m worn out. I have a long list just on the little stuff…. Build a house? A year of talking about it. Another year to build on the average. Those that do work and do good work are swamped. Workers and trades are asking exorbitant amounts of money. If I can’t do it myself, I haven’t gone near it. I don’t make promises I can’t keep. Haven’t had ant time to ride. Have old people to tend every evening. My day ends around 7:30pm Just checked in that everyone survived storms…

I feel your pain Skeeter. We're going into the 13th month and they may start hanging sheetrock this week or next. Construction mgr. tells me they're having trouble getting appliances. Some buyers closing before they get theirs. I'm waiting to see what extra cost(s) for increase in line items I'm going to be hit with at closing. If costs exceed 15% per line item, I have to pay the excess. If total of all exceed 8% of (of the sales price), the builder or myself has the option of backing out of the contract. It's a CYA contract written to their advantage. They all do it.
